Omar Andrew Nimri '20 has been selected by the New York State Bar Association for a highly competitive NYSBA International Section internship in London, England. Nimri will work this summer at Outer Temple Chambers, a firm that provides a wide range of legal services to international clients.

"The Law Student International Internship Program is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door in the field of international law," Nimri said. "I'm ecstatic to get to travel to London, as it was actually my first choice of places where I would want to work abroad. With the ongoing Brexit issue, there is no better place to gain valuable experience working in international law."

Nimri, a 2L studying international law, is treasurer of the International Law Society at Albany Law School, a member of the International Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, a member of the Arab American Bar Association, and a member of the American Bar Association's Section of International Law, for which he recently wrote an article on Jordan to be included in the section's year-in-review publication. He is a graduate of Hellenic College.

The Law Student International Internship Program offers mentoring and hands-on work experience during a four- to eight-week placement. In the past, student interns have fulfilled work assignments in various business, commercial, and financial matters for law firms in Europe and Latin America. They have participated in client meetings, prepared and reviewed legal documents, conducted research, and assisted with the participating firms' English language legal and marketing materials. Last year, Julie Bentzen '19 interned at Lombardi Aguilar Group, an international business law firm in Panama City, Panama.

Professor Peter Halewood administers Albany Law School's NYSBA Law Student International Internship Program as well as its Fulbright U.S. Student Program, which provides funding for study and research opportunities overseas during or after law school.
