From the Program Directors
The Albany Law School Veterans' Pro Bono Project is a student-led group with a mission to connect veterans with attorneys and organizations that can help veterans with legal or benefits-related issues they may have. Each year the group hosts a Veterans Law Day event centered around the Veterans Day holiday.
This event is meant to provide free legal services to veterans and active duty military personnel. It typically has four components: a Town hall Q&A; limited-scope consultations with attorneys; seminars on various legal issues that veterans and active duty military members are facing; and tabling by various organizations.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, instead of a single day of in-person programming, the group is offering multiple virtual programs.
Participation will require access to a computer, tablet, or phone. Please let us know if you are in need of accommodations or assistance. We will ensure that everyone who is interested in participating can do so.
If you are a veteran or military member, or know one, please spread the word to anyone who may benefit from these programs.
These events and resources are free, but registration is needed to accommodate
Thank you for your service and support.

2020 Project In Memory of Albany Law School Classmate SSG Joseph Gentile (1985-2020)
The 2020 Veterans' Pro Bono Project was presented in memory of one of our recent Albany Law School classmates, SSG Joseph Gentile.
Joseph was born on March 14, 1985 in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
A 2002 graduate of Shelton High School, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2003, serving his country courageously during several tours overseas where he earned the Combat Action Badge and the Bronze Star Medal.
Joseph medically retired in 2015 and moved back to Connecticut to rehabilitate. He met his soulmate Jillian and her son Frank in late 2015 and were married in 2018. They settled in the Poughkeepsie, New York area so Joe could attend Marist College.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Paralegal Certificate in the hopes of going to law school. He achieved this goal in August of 2020 and was looking forward to his first year at Albany Law School.
An adored and doting husband, loving and caring father and stepfather, he will forever be remembered for his silent strength, loyalty, integrity, and selflessness.
