Crummey and McCardle Win Client Counseling Competition
Carol Crummey '13 and Jonathan McCardle '13 emerged triumphantly as the winners of the the law school's Donna Jo Morse Client Counseling Competition earlier this month. The pair will go on to represent Albany Law School at the American Bar Association Client Counseling Regional Competition in February 2013.
In each round of the Donna Jo Morse Client Counseling Competition, competitors have 15 minutes to interview another student playing the role of a prospective client. The client has a list of facts that are unknown to the competitor; a key component of the interview process is to elicit as many of these facts as possible.
Through the Albany Law School Moot Court Program, more than 50 percent of the law school's students receive intensive practical training in oral and written appellate advocacy, trial advocacy, and client counseling and negotiation skills. During the 2011-2012 year, students competed in eight national competitions, and the law school hosted more than 20 other law schools for the 24th Annual Domenick L. Gabrielli Family Law Competition.
