Parsons '71 Named Interim CEO of LA Clippers

Richard Parsons, Albany Law Class of 1971, was recently named interim CEO of the Los Angeles Clippers, one of eight teams still vying for this year's NBA championship. He will oversee the franchise's operations while the league tries to force the team's owner, Donald Sterling, to sell.

Most recently, Parsons has been a senior advisor of Providence Equity Partners LLC. He is the former chairman for Citigroup. Prior to becoming Citigroup chairman, he served as president, CEO and chairman of Time Warner. He also has been managing partner of Patterson, Belknap, Webb & Tyler LLP and an executive of The Dime Savings Bank of New York, FSB.

Parsons has held various positions in state and federal government, including being a senior White House aide under President Gerald Ford and counsel to New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller. He has also served on President Barack Obama's economic advisory team and was co-chair for President George W. Bush's commission on Social Security.

His numerous board appointments have included The Apollo Theatre, The Museum of Modern Art, The American Museum Of Natural History, The Madison Square Garden Company and Howard University.

Albany Law School honored Parsons with the Trustees Gold Medal, the highest accolade awarded by the school in recognition of exemplary support and dedication to the advancement of the school, in 2011. He graduated as valedictorian of his law school class after earning his undergraduate degree at the University of Hawaii.
