Megyn Kelly ’95 to Take Major Role at NBC News

Megyn Kelly ’95, host of “The Kelly File” on Fox News Channel, is starting a new chapter at NBC News.

At NBC, Kelly will host an hourlong daytime program, anchor a Sunday prime-time news magazine show, and will contribute to political, breaking news, and special events coverage, the network announced on Tuesday. She agreed to a multi-year deal, NBC said.

“Megyn is an exceptional journalist and news anchor, who has had an extraordinary career,” Andrew Lack, chair of NBCUniversal News Group, said in a statement. “She’s demonstrated tremendous skill and poise, and we’re lucky to have her.”

Kelly graduated cum laude from Albany Law School in 1995 and received an Alumni Achievement Award while visiting campus for her 15th class reunion. She delivered Albany Law’s commencement keynote in May 2016, advising graduates to embrace boldness, hard work, and adversity.

"There is no way I would have achieved what I have achieved without my Albany Law School education and degree," she said. "Everything I’ve accomplished in my professional life started right here."

Kelly recently wrote about her experience at Albany Law School in her book, “Settle for More.” While a student, she was an editor for the Albany Law Review and won the Best Individual Advocate Award while competing in the moot court program.

Kelly’s prime-time television show, "The Kelly File," launched on Fox News Channel in the fall of 2013, and less than a year later she was named one of TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world. She joined Fox News in 2004, initially working as a correspondent after beginning her television career at ABC affiliate WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C. Prior to her career in journalism, she served as an associate with Bickel & Brewer in Chicago and was a corporate litigator at Jones Day in New York, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.

She earned her B.A. in Political Science from Syracuse University.
