Tully Rinckey has named Michael W. Macomber ’09 its new Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2020.
In a statement, the firm said that transitioning Macomber to CEO will allow co-founders Mat Tully and Greg Rinckey to focus on global expansion. Tully Rinckey—headquartered in Albany—has 10 domestic offices in California, New York, Texas, and Washington, D.C. The firm opened its first international office in Dublin, Ireland, in July 2018; its London office will open next month, with another to follow in Dubai, and more in the works.
The firm, which plans to add several new equity partners, added that it wants to create a more collaborative culture—and that Macomber is the best person for the task. The firm currently has 159 employees, according to the Albany Business Review.
“Michael Macomber has been an integral part of building and developing high-performing legal teams within the firm and generating positive results for clients,” Tully said.
Macomber joined Tully Rinckey as an associate in 2008. He was promoted to partner in 2015 and also serves as the section chair of the firm’s New York State Employment Group. He focuses his practice on federal and private sector employment law claims, including claims involving the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), New York Labor Law, New York Executive Law, and Qui Tam claims.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Union College, a graduate certificate in Foundations in Business from the University of Massachusetts, and a J.D. from Albany Law School, graduating cum laude.
