LiPetri Named to Long Island Business News’ ‘30 Under 30’

​Michael LiPetri ’15 was recently honored by the Long Island Business News as a “30 Under 30” recipient for his work both professionally and within the community.

LiPetri is an associate at Rivkin Radler LLP, where he is a member of the firm’s general liability, insurance coverage, and medical malpractice defense practice groups. Working out of Rivkin Radler’s Uniondale, N.Y., office, LiPetri represents landowners, landlords, and management companies, as well as insurers in coverage matters related to homeowner and commercial insurance policies. He was previously an assistant corporation counsel in the New York City Law Department’s Manhattan Borough Unit.

“The work is always changing and I am constantly learning. I enjoy delving into new issues, meeting new people, and developing new skills,” LiPetri told the Business News. “It is important that you genuinely enjoy what you do, and who you do it with.”

LiPetri received the award Sept. 12. The Business News compiles its annual list to “honor the bright and dynamic young professionals who are under the age of 30, who contribute to the Long Island community through public service and who have made significant strides in business.”

Outside of the office, LiPetri teaches a public speaking course for the Massapequa Adult Continuing Education Program and is a member of several community organizations, including the Long Island Association, Sons of Italy Columbus Lodge, the Knights of Columbus Maria Regina Council, and Sons of Amvets Post 88. In 2017 he was named “Lion of the Year” by the Massapequa Lions Club.

At Albany Law School, LiPetri clerked for Hon. Christian F. Hummel in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York and interned in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York. He served as editor-in-chief of the Albany Government Law Review and was active in the Anthony V. Cardona '70 Moot Court Program, winning the Best Oral Advocate award in the Domenick L. Gabrielli Appellate Advocacy Moot Court Competition.

LiPetri graduated magna cum laude in 2015. Shortly afterward, his article “Congressional Term Limits: A Good Idea?” was published in the Dartmouth Law Journal.
