Composto ’02 to Lead N.Y. Women’s Bar

Andrea Composto ’02 is the 2015-2016 President of the Women’s Bar Association of New York (WBASNY), taking the office at the organization’s annual convention held in Bolton Landing, N.Y.in May. Composto is the owner and a partner at the Law Offices of Composto & Composto in Brooklyn Heights, alongside her father Frank Composto, and after her late grandfather, making her the third generation of the family at the firm. Her practice includes civil litigation, personal injury, commercial law, real estate, and wills and probate administration.

Prior to being elected as president of the WBASNY, Composto became an officer in 2010 for the organization, holding positions ranging from recording secretary, corresponding secretary, and vice president. The WBASNY advocates for equality and fair treatment of all women and works to change laws focusing on domestic violence, equality in marriage dissolution, custody fairness, and sexual violence crimes.

Composto has also served as recording secretary, treasure, and vice president for the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association (BWBA). Before becoming an attorney, she worked for the New York State legislature and as Senator Phillip M. Boyle’s Chief of Staff.

Composto graduated from Lemoyne College in 1996 with her bachelors, and received her J.D. from Albany Law School in 2002. She was the recipient of the Friedman Prize for Academic Excellence in Family Law from Albany Law School, which is awarded to individuals who attain the highest average in the field of family law.
