Veterans' Law

Academic Year
Credits
3.00

This course will cover the many unique laws that pertain to veterans, as well as the particular legal needs and legal issues faced by veterans. Veterans' Law is widely considered one of the most rapidly growing practice areas in America, both in the private sector and the public sector. Veteran's Law overlaps with multiple other practice areas - Elder Law, Health Law, Labor Law, Family Law, Property Law, Debtor-Creditor Law, and many more. Because of the complex array of legal issues veterans and persons face, the substantive law covered in the course includes elements of administrative, mental health, probate, and constitutional law, among other relevant topics. The seminar will also provide students an opportunity to consider larger questions about the laws and policies affecting veterans and about the design of social welfare programs more generally.
