This course focuses on secured transactions under Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code. The course explores issues relating to the creation and perfection of security interests in personal property, and analyzes a wide range of priority disputes involving secured parties and competing claimants. The course also examines the rights of secured lenders in bankruptcy. This course is an asynchronous online class, with no fixed class times. Students will be able to read and complete assignments, and contribute to the online class discussion boards on their own schedule, within the deadlines that the professor sets for each weekly module. Weekly assignments include several problems that students must solve to demonstrate an understanding of the assigned reading. Students will then contribute to online chat boards for each problem throughout the week, to simulate classroom discussion.
