This course examines the principles and concepts that underlie property and the protections (and limitations) afforded to it. We will cover the acquisition of property interests, the various incidents of property ownership, and the rights and limitations of property use. We will examine competition over the use of property, including nuisance, zoning, and covenants, as well as the manner in which property interests can be severed and shared across space, place, and time. Finally, we will look at the conveyance of property interests, including the methods by which property is conveyed and the character of the conveyed interest.
