The Legislative Process is the foundation for the creation of new laws. Statutory interpretation (the interpretation of legislation passed by state legislatures and signed into law by Governors) is one of the most fundamental skills of legal analysis, because so much of the law is composed of often-ambiguous language. This course will support an understanding of the legislative process and prepare students to draft statutory text, analyze statutes and to make effective arguments about the meaning of laws.
