This graduate-level course exposes students to: An overview of the principal federal securities laws and their purposes; various types of fraudulent securities schemes, including Ponzi schemes, offering fraud, accounting fraud, market manipulation, insider trading, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, as well as the basic concepts relevant to detecting and prosecuting such schemes; and the fundamental principles involved in conducting internal investigations relating to potential securities law violations.
