Recoveries under the FCA average several billion dollars each year, with the majority of the recoveries stemming from cases brought under the Act's qui tam provisions, which enable individuals (known as "relators") to bring suit in the name of the United States and to share in the recoveries. This course will provide an overview of the FCA and its qui tam provisions, and detail significant recent developments under the Act, with a particular emphasis on legal developments by the Supreme Court and issues percolating in the Circuit Courts of Appeal.
