FThis class follows the basic Trusts and Estates course by teaching how to apply the law learned in that class to the working with and preparing estate plans for clients. We will cover basic drafting, interviewing, and document execution skills, learn to tailor estate and incapacity plans and choose different wealth transfer devices for clients at different stages of life and in different situations. We will also cover basic wealth transfer taxation and learn to apply it to various client scenarios. The class will include several drafting assignments, role play, guest speakers from different areas of estate planning practice, and class discussion. The final grade will be based primarily on written work, class participation (including role plays), and the final exam.
