This course exposes students to issues involved in cyber security law, both from a national policy standpoint and from a corporate counsel view. Cyber security is the protection of electronic data and systems from attack, loss, or other compromise. Cyber security policy includes information and communications strategy, policy, and standards regarding the security of operations in cyberspace, as related to national security and the national information infrastructure. Corporate counsel, whether working for public or private entities, are responsible to spot key issues of business and legal cyber security risk, for ensuring that the board of directors and senior leadership execute a comprehensive cyber security policy, and for ensuring that their organization is a participant in the national dialogue regarding cyber security policy.
