Students enrolled in this will work under the supervision of attorneys at the local office of the Albany office of the New York Attorney General, in different areas of civil defense litigation in State Supreme Court or Federal Court, including Article 78 litigation in State Supreme Court. Attorneys will assign students substantive legal work and provide students with ongoing oversight and guidance. Students will have the opportunity to attend court proceedings and to be involved in other parts of the litigation process, including researching issues, drafting documents, responding to discovery demands, meeting with witnesses and attending pre-trial depositions. The weekly classroom component will consist of a seminar that will revolve around one of several subject areas of the Attorney General's practice. The course will also feature guest speakers from the Attorney General's Office with expertise in various areas of law and from the legal community. Interwoven into the lecture will be a discussion of student experiences and professional and ethical issues.
