This one credit seminar for first year students explores the United States mass incarceration problem and how explores ways on how to move towards a non-punitive approach to resolving harm. The course will explore ways to create alternative legal structures that can serve to replace the retribution centered system that is currently in use. Finally, the course encourages students to explore how to apply abolitionist tenets into other legal contexts.
