Business, Tax, and Financial Market Regulation

Albany Law School has a long and proud history in the fields of business law (corporate and business litigation), tax, and financial markets/ financial institution regulation. Our graduates traditionally have served in legal, compliance, and business roles at a range of organizations and institutions both nationally and internationally. Today, we have a number of courses and programs on campus for students interested in these areas, including the Institute for Financial Market Regulation (IFMR), a cooperative project with the University at Albany that focuses on interdisciplinary research and education in financial market regulation. 

Student Life

The Business, Tax, and Financial Markets Pathway starts at Orientation where new students can participate in special sessions introducing them to the Pathway and meet faculty, peer, and alumni mentors.

Academic Program

Students following the Business, Tax, and Financial Markets Pathway are not required to choose a concentration, but the following concentrations align with this Pathway. Students can elect to concentrate in one of these areas or use the concentrations as a guideline for course selection in the areas in which they have an interest:

Working with the Institute for Financial Market Regulation would be another avenue for students to gain valuable experience and learning opportunities in: the business of financial markets, and public policy affecting the markets and driving regulation systems.
