Biography

Lauren DesRosiers is the Senior Staff Attorney with the Immigration Law Clinic. She teaches Immigration Law as an adjunct professor and taught the Immigration Law Clinic as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Law in Spring 2023.

Before joining the Justice Center in 2021, Lauren was a Senior Staff Attorney with the New York City Anti-Violence Project, where she represented LGBTQ+ immigrant survivors of violence in immigration matters and other civil proceedings. In an earlier role, Lauren served as an Equal Justice Works Fellow; her project targeted access-to-justice issues for immigrant LGBTQ+ survivors of hate violence through direct representation as well as policy advocacy and training for legal services providers and pro bono attorneys.

She was a visiting professor and Judith S. Kaye Teaching Fellow with the Historical Society of the New York Courts and Bard Early Colleges, where she developed and taught an undergraduate course exploring New York State’s place in the development of immigration law and policy. 

Before focusing her career on humanitarian immigration, Lauren was a litigation associate at a large law firm in New York City representing clients in civil matters in state and federal courts while maintaining an active immigration pro bono docket. 

She received her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and B.A. from Bard College at Simon’s Rock.
