New Members, President for Albany Law School's National Alumni Association

Three alumni have been named to Albany Law School's National Alumni Association (NAA) Board, and one current member was named to the Executive Committee. The NAA Board also has a new President, Emily Chapman ’13, who will serve a two-year term starting on July 1. 
New Board members are:
•    Cathryn Crummey ’22 
•    Jennifer Sunderlin Morton ’07 
•    Raymond Weiss ’22

David Fernandez ’92, a member of the NAA board since 2001, was named to the board’s Executive Committee.

 

Emily Chapman ’13 will serve as the board’s newest President. 
Emily Chapman is Legal AI Architect at DragonGC, where she focuses on issuer-facing research and AI-driven disclosure innovation. She brings over a decade of securities law expertise, including time at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where she contributed to rulemaking and presented directly to Commissioners, and at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP.
Chapman received a B.S. in Finance and International Business from SUNY New Paltz before earning an MBA from the University at Albany and a J.D., cum laude, from Albany Law School. While in law school, she volunteered as an EMT with the Delmar Fire Department and developed a strong foundation in securities law through coursework in Securities Regulation and Hot Topics in Securities.
Chapman currently serves as a member of the Albany Law School Board of Trustees and is the President of the National Alumni Association. She also participates in alumni mentoring and recruiting for the school. Emily resides in Leonardtown, Maryland, with her husband, Dan, and their two children.

David Fernandez ’92

David J. Fernandez is a Partner with Barnes & Thornburg. He primarily advises financial institutions that provide both corporate and municipal trust services across a broad range of asset classes and roles in both primary and secondary markets. These needs span the full transaction lifecycle — from initial deal documentation through post-closing administration, regulatory compliance, risk management and controls, investor communications, litigation, defaults, workouts and restructurings, terminations, successorships, investigations, and insolvency matters. Fernandez brings the experience and multidisciplinary depth needed to serve as a true partner, managing these matters thoughtfully, strategically, and holistically at every stage.  Before entering private practice, Fernandez served as both counsel in the New York State Assembly and Assistant General Counsel for the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York, one of the nation's leading issuers of tax-exempt debt. 
He graduated from Albany Law School in 1992 and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Colgate University. While in law school, he was a member of The Issue, the Alumni Mentoring Group, and the Student Bar Association. He has served as a member of the NAA since 2001. 

Cathryn Crummey ’22 
 

Cathryn Crummey is an associate with Greenberg Traurig LLP in the Government Law & Policy Practice. She focuses her practice on matters involving New York State legislative and regulatory issues, as well as lobbying, campaign finance, and governmental ethics. Cathryn represents a wide range of business sectors and entities.  Prior to joining the firm, Crummey represented state agencies, municipalities, industrial development agencies, and for-profit and not-for-profit businesses.
She graduated magna cum laude from Albany Law School in 2022. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from The State University of New York at Geneseo. While in law school. She was a member of the Student Bar Association. 
Cathryn has been recognized for her professional achievements through her selection to the Upstate New York Super Lawyers Rising Stars list in both 2025 and 2026. She previously served as Treasurer of the Junior League of Albany and currently serves on the St. Jude Gala Committee.
A third-generation Albany Law graduate, she follows in the footsteps of her great-grandfather, Edward J. Crummey, Class of 1910, and her father, The Honorable Peter G. Crummey ’81. Her sister, Carol E. Crummey ’13, is also an Albany Law alumna.

Jennifer Sunderlin Morton ’07 

Jennifer Sunderlin Morton is a Partner and Founder with Falco & Morton Law, PLLC. Morton received her J.D. from Albany Law School in 2007. She served as Executive Editor for Business with the Albany Law Review, and published the case note “One Nation, Indivisible: American ‘Indian Country’ in the Wake of City of Sherrill v. Oneida Indian Nation,” 70 Alb. L. Rev. (2007). She spoke at Commencement as founder and chair of the student giving campaign.  At Albany Law, Morton was a Teaching Assistant for the Introduction to Lawyering course, served on the Moot Court Board and the Civil Rights & Disabilities Clinic. She interned with the Hon. David N. Hurd at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York. Morton served on the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Northeastern NY from 2009 to 2014. She is also a 2010 graduate of the Leadership Tech Valley program through the Capital District Chamber of Commerce. Morton is a member of the Albany County, Saratoga County, and Capital District Women’s Bar Associations. She is also a supporter of the Albany Fire Department Benevolent Association, the Albany Knickerbockers Rugby Football Club, the Police Athletic League, the Albany Fund for Education, her church, and her neighborhood association.  Morton has been named on the Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” list in the area of Family & Matrimonial Law since 2014, a significant honor received by only 2.5% of attorneys in the State. Since 2023, she has been designated a "Super Lawyer."  Originally from central New York, she graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. from Hamilton College. Jen resides in Albany with her family. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, theater, and supporting local businesses.

Raymond Weiss ’22
 

Raymond P. Weiss Jr. is an associate attorney at Goldberg Segalla LLP. He dedicates his practice to workers’ compensation law, counseling and defending employers, insurers, and third-party administrators throughout New York. He handles all phases of the claims process, ranging from conducting depositions and preparing motions to reviewing medical records and negotiating settlement agreements.  Before joining Goldberg Segalla, Weiss provided legal representation to claimants in workers’ compensation cases, representing clients at administrative hearings, at trial, and on appeal. His experience also includes serving as an employee relations associate with the New York State Office of Employee Relations, where he participated in contract negotiations and benefits administration, presenting information during negotiations, mediations and arbitrations for New York State’s collective bargaining agreements.
He graduated magna cum laude from Albany Law School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University at Albany. While in law school, he served as Associate Editor for the Government Law Review, Vol 16, Subeditor, Government Law Review, Vol 15, and as a Member of the Moot Court Board.
 

The 31-member NAA board represents all Albany Law School alumni and was organized to promote the welfare of the school. The NAA serves Albany Law School in an advisory and networking capacity in areas such as career services, admissions recruitment, and alumni involvement. Every graduate of Albany Law School automatically becomes a member of the NAA upon graduation.
