Julia Lu ’98 to join the Board of Trustees at Albany Law School

Albany Law School is proud to announce that Julia Lu, Class of 1998, was elected to a five-year term at the Board of Trustees meeting in May. Lu is a Derivatives and Finance Partner at Ashurst, one of the world’s leading global law firms. 

Lu is summa cum laude graduate of Albany Law, where she also served as Note & Comment Editor for the Albany Law Review. Her career highlights include previously serving as acting Chief Operating Officer of the bank loan syndication and trading desk at Goldman Sachs and as the acting general counsel for Gro Intelligence, Inc., an artificial intelligence and data analytics company based in New York and Nairobi. She is a recognized expert in complex financial transactions, as demonstrated by her current role as a Market Expert on the Panel of Recognized International Market Experts in Finance (P.R.I.M.E. Finance), an innovative collaboration established to help resolve and assist judicial systems in the resolution of disputes concerning complex financial transactions. Lu’s deep legal acumen has guided clients through high-profile cases involving credit default swaps and other derivatives.

"As an active member of our Dean’s Leadership Council and the Women’s Leadership Initiative, Julia has already contributed significantly to the Albany Law community. We are thrilled to welcome her to the Board and are confident that her insights and support will help  us advance the work and mission of the Law School."

The Board also named Gabriel Girault ’26 as the new student trustee. Girault received his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University at Albany. He is the president of the Albany Law School Black Law Student Association and this past year served as a legal intern in the office of New York State Senator James Skoufis.
