Albany Law School Human Resources: Law, Leadership, and Policy Advanced Certificate student Sita Fey has been appointed Deputy Secretary for Appointments and Human Resources by New York Governor Kathy Hochul.

Fey is pursuing an Advanced Certificate through Albany Law School’s fully-online Human Resources: Law, Leadership & Policy program while working as Deputy Appointments Secretary in Hochul’s office.

Fey entered state government through the Empire State Fellows Program and served as a Senior Advisor to then-Lieutenant Governor Hochul. She joined the Executive Chamber as a Senior Advisor for the Executive Transition Team. Previously, Fey was the Director of Policy at the Department of Agriculture and Markets.

Prior to state service, Fey was an educator and cultural change agent holding positions as a School Library Media Specialist at Cooperstown Central Schools, and an elementary teacher and after school program educator in the Oneonta City School District. She remains actively involved in her community and serves as Past Board President of Opportunities for Otsego. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Childhood Education from SUNY Oneonta, a Master of Science in Information Science from the University at Albany, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from SUNY Cortland, in addition to her Albany Law credentials.

“Fey’s advancement in state government is a perfect example of the opportunities our Online Graduate Programs offer. Through our flexible, relevant, and adaptable programs our students can sharpen their skills and immediately put them into place as they advance in their fields,” said Thomas Rosenberger, Assistant Dean and Director for Online Programs.

"As we move our state forward, it is critical that we have the best and brightest team to help deliver real change for New Yorkers," Hochul said in the announcement. "These outstanding individuals have a proven track record in public service and the skill and tenacity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of New Yorkers, and I look forward to continuing to tackle the state's most pressing challenges head-on with them."
