Albany Law School’s Patrick Wildes ’16 Honored for Public Policy Leadership
The Alliance for Rights and Recovery has announced Patrick Wildes ’16, Director of the Government Law Center at Albany Law School, as one of this year’s recipients of the Public Policy Leadership Award. He was honored during the Alliance’s Annual Executive Seminar at the Albany Marriott on April 24, 2025.

“It’s an incredible honor to be recognized by the Alliance for Rights and Recovery alongside such inspiring leaders,” Wildes said. “I’ve been fortunate to work with and learn from dedicated public servants across the state - both in government and in the not-for-profit sector - and this award reflects the collaborative effort it takes to advance meaningful change on behalf of stigmatized and underserved populations”
A dedicated public servant and Albany Law alumnus, Wildes has built an impactful career advocating for New Yorkers through legal and policy channels. Prior to returning to his alma mater, Wildes served nearly five years in the New York State Governor’s Office, most recently as Assistant Secretary for Human Services and Mental Hygiene. In this role, he helped shape and execute transformative policies in mental health, addiction services, and broader human services, work that has tangibly improved lives across the state.
Earlier in his career, he contributed significantly to the New York State Justice Center, providing legal counsel and representing the state in matters protecting vulnerable populations.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Wildes is a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region, exemplifying his commitment to public service both in and out of the office.
