Albany Law School was thrilled to welcome alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends back to campus for Reunion Weekend 2025, a celebration of connection, tradition, and community that reminded us why Albany Law is truly better together.

Reunion Weekend - Friday Events September 2025

The weekend began on a high note with the Better Together Albany Law School Kick-Off Reception, where alumni reconnected with classmates and shared memories. This festive start set the tone for the days ahead, filled with events that honored our alumni and highlighted the enduring strength of our community.

One of the weekend’s major moments came during the Welcome Reception with President & Dean Cinnamon P. Carlarne. Dean Carlarne warmly welcomed alumni and students back to campus and shared exciting news: beginning in 2026, Albany Law School will launch a year-long celebration of its 175th anniversary. This milestone will honor our institution’s rich history and enduring role in shaping leaders in the law. During the Welcome Reception, the Albany Law community honored alumnus John Rausch ’65, who celebrated his 60-year reunion alongside his son Rob Rausch '94.

The Luncheon for Alumni in Government and Public Service, hosted by the Government Law Center, paid tribute to the many alumni whose careers embody Albany Law School’s proud reputation for preparing students for impactful service in the public sector. Attendees shared experiences and reflected on the school’s legacy of leadership in government and policy.

A highlight of Friday morning was the Senior Partners Breakfast, held at the historic Fort Orange Club in Albany. Graduates from the Class of 1975 and earlier gathered for one of Reunion’s most celebrated traditions. Each year, this program welcomes the newest Senior Partners—this year, the Class of 1975—honoring them for their 50 years of being part of the Albany Law School community. The breakfast was a time for reflection, camaraderie, and recognition of the deep legacy these alumni continue to uphold.

Also on Friday, alumni and students connected at the Moot Court & Alumni Reception and each of the student-run journals, Albany Law Review, the Albany Law Journal of Science & Technology, and the Government Law Review, held an open house at their respective offices. Another highlight was a book presentation and signing with the Honorable Betty Lugo-Martinez ’84, celebrating the launch of her new book, Portrait of My Mother – Juanita. Judge Lugo-Martinez shared personal insights into her work while students and alumni had the opportunity to learn, reflect, and celebrate her achievement.

Athletic spirit was alive throughout the day with The Colby FUNd Run for Food Insecurity  and the traditional Rugby Matches, where current students faced off against alumni in the men’s competition, while women competed against RIT in their match. The friendly rivalry was followed by one of the weekend’s most beloved traditions, the Reunion Picnic, where families, friends, and classmates gathered for food, laughter, and celebration.
