Albany Law School Professor Rose Rameau Shares Expertise at International Arbitration Conference in Atlanta

Albany Law School Associate Professor of Law Rose Rameau recently participated as a panelist at the Atlanta International Arbitration Society’s 14th Annual Conference, held October 1–3, 2025. The conference brought together leading experts from around the world to explore the theme, “Challenges to International Dispute Resolution in the Evolving International Legal Order.”

Professor Rameau, a recognized authority in international law and arbitration, joined esteemed colleagues from the United States and Europe for a wide-ranging discussion on the future of investor-state and commercial arbitration. Her remarks focused on the intersection of human rights and international arbitration, experiences involving African parties in arbitration, and emerging questions surrounding legitimacy and compliance under international law.

“It was a privilege to participate in such a timely and thought-provoking discussion,” Professor Rameau said. “We explored how new global developments are reshaping the practice of dispute resolution and whether these changes might signal a broader shift toward international courts.”

A Fellow of both the American Bar Foundation and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), Professor Rameau has built a distinguished career bridging academia and practice. Before joining Albany Law School, she managed her own arbitration practice in Paris and Washington, D.C., and taught at leading universities including Université Panthéon Assas (Paris 2) and the University of Ghana School of Law as a Fulbright Scholar.

Appointed by Haiti to the Permanent Court of Arbitration, Professor Rameau continues to represent sovereign states in complex investment disputes and serves as a sole arbitrator in commercial cases involving African nationals. Her extensive international experience and scholarship — including forthcoming work in the Northeastern Law Review — position her as a leading voice in advancing equitable and effective global dispute resolution.
