Albany Law School to host 28 teams for 34th Annual Domenick L. Gabrielli National Family Law Moot Court Competition
Albany Law School will virtually host 28 teams from across the country — including four first-time attendees — for the 34th Annual Domenick L. Gabrielli National Family Law Moot Court Competition from March 4-5, 2022.
Caitlin Curtin ’22 is this year’s Competition Chair and the Competition Associates are Neha Goel ’23 and Jingyu “Sophie” Zhang ’23.
This year’s problem was written by Curtain and will address: (1) whether the State of New Scotland, Third Appellate Division, correctly determined that New Scotland Medical Center did not violate New Scotland Family Court Act § 1964 and properly resuscitated Plaintiffs’ infant daughter, Claire, who was born at 22 weeks gestation, despite Plaintiffs’ objections because resuscitation was necessary to save the infant’s life; and (2) whether the State of New Scotland, Third Appellate Division, correctly determined that New Scotland Medical Center did not violate New Scotland Public Health Law § 3087 by providing experimental treatments to Plaintiffs Joseph and Amelia Baker’s infant daughter, Claire, after her birth without obtaining parental consent.
The four new schools in the competition are: Campbell University School of Law (Raleigh, North Carolina), Charleston School of Law (Charleston, South Carolina), Drexel University, Thomas R. Kline School of Law (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), and Southwestern Law School (Los Angeles, California).
