Albany Law Marks Strong Fundraising Year

Albany Law School is proud to share one of the most successful fundraising years in the school’s 175-year history.

The 2025-2026 fiscal year closed on June 30 with over $2.175 million in cash and commitments to the school’s Annual Fund. This is the first time in Albany Law School history that the Annual Fund has exceeded $2 million. Gifts to the Annual Fund support a variety of areas including student scholarships, experiential learning opportunities, professional development initiatives, the Schaffer law library, and academic programs.

“As we continue the celebration of our 175th year, we also must celebrate all of the generosity that has helped move us forward. As a community, gifts of all sizes support our students, work in our clinics and centers, and provide support beyond the classroom. Thank you to everyone who has contributed and shown support to Albany Law School,” said President and Dean Cinnamon Carlarne.

Overall, Albany Law School received more than $4.4 million in new gifts and commitments during fiscal year 2025-2026.

Direct support to students through dedicated gifts were a highlight of the year, including:

More than $70,500 donated to Bar Support and the Eugene P. Devine '40 Family Bar Preparation Assistance Fund
More than $18,000 awarded to students for emergencies through the Helen Wilkinson Student Assistance Fund and Student Emergency Fund
The Women’s Leadership Initiative Advisory Board had 100% giving participation

Throughout the year, the community stepped up for various giving initiatives including record-setting support on Giving Tuesday, a global movement that inspires giving and generosity, with more than $37,000 donated. Thanks to Joe Breda ’94 for offering a generous $30,000 match for gifts made to the Annual Fund.

In February, the 13th annual We Are Albany Law Give Day proved to be another success with gifts from more than 325 donors. In addition, the Government Law Center Advisory Board challenge offered by Amy Kellogg ’02, was successfully accomplished!

Later in June, the law school exceeded the goal of 175 donors by June 30, in recognition of the 175th Anniversary.

More than $1.2 million was received for student scholarships, the highest amount since fiscal year 2021. This accounts for several new scholarships, including:
