Mark Glaser, Albany Law School Class of 1976, was recently celebrated at Albany Law School during the first annual Mark Glaser ’76 Lecture on Government Ethics presented by the Government Law Center on November 3, 2025. The lecture series was established following Mr. Glaser’s retirement from Greenberg Traurig to recognize his distinguished career and contributions in government law and ethics in New York State.

“Throughout his career, Mark Glaser has had a profoundly positive impact on New York State government and its political landscape,” said Patrick Wildes ’16, Director of the Government Law Center. “We are delighted to honor him by highlighting the importance of ethics and public service through this lecture series.”

The program featured Lucy Lang, 11th Inspector General of the State of New York. The program began with a brief presentation by Inspector General Lang about the importance of independent oversight at all levels of government, followed by a dialogue with Wildes. Lang and Wildes discussed the role and responsibilities of inspectors general, major challenges facing government oversight agencies, and the next generation of government oversight.

“We are honored to host Inspector General Lang, who exemplifies a dedication to integrity and public trust at the highest level for this inaugural lecture,” said Cinnamon P. Carlarne, 19th President and Dean of Albany Law School. “Lang’s perspective on ethics, oversight, and the responsibility that comes with public power is invaluable, especially for our future lawyers and leaders, who will soon enter this complex arena of government and law.”

Before the public event, Government Law Center Fellows had an opportunity to meet with Inspector General Lang and two alumni working in the Offices of the Inspector General, Katie McCutcheon ’06 and Alexis Osborne ’16. Inspector General Lang facilitated a discussion about public service careers, the evolution of government ethics, and the value of developing a professional reputation rooted in truth-telling and integrity.
