Albany Law School continues to build on its mission of helping those in need with its traditional Senior Citizen’s Law Day on April 29 from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the 1928 Building presented by the law school’s Elder & Disability Law Pro Bono Society.

"Senior Citizen Law Day is a fantastic opportunity for our students and alumni to interact with the community and help a population that is, sometimes, overlooked when it comes to legal support. It is an honor to work with such dedicated and devoted people on a project like this," said Anna G. Weyand '24. She is the President of the law school's Elder and Disability Law Pro Bono Society. "We encourage anyone who needs help to register and join us. We want to help those who need help."

The free event is for seniors, soon-to-be seniors, their loved ones, and caregivers, but registration is required.

Attendees can:

  • Have free breakfast
  • Make an appointment for a free one-on-one consultation with an attorney
  • Attend workshops on pressing legal, financial, and health issues
  • Hear from prominent advocates for older adults
  • Attend a resource fair

Students, volunteers, and alumni will be on hand to answer questions. Beyond the one-on-one help, local organizations attending include:

  • Albany County Crime Victim and Sexual Violence Center
  • Albany Guardian Society
  • The Legal Project
  • Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York
  • Tenants’ Rights Pro Bono Project
  • Albany Community Police Review Board

Free parking is available on campus for the event that traditionally serves hundreds of people.
