Over the past several months, Professor Sheldon Halpern has produced a great deal of scholarship on intellectual property, trademark, copyright and related issues in the digital age.

Professor Halpern also recently signed a contract to author a book on the globalization and harmonization of copyright law, specifically with respect to the United States and European Union, scheduled for publication late next year. He delivered a talk in June on the subject at an intellectual property conference at the University of Edinburgh.

His recent work includes:

Lead author of a new edition of Kluwer’s International Encyclopedia of U.S. Intellectual Property Law

Fourth edition of his text Fundamentals of U.S. Intellectual Property Law (with Port and Seymore)

2012-13 cumulative supplement to his Copyright casebook for Carolina Academic Press

Book chapter on trademark, publicity and property rights for a forthcoming Oxford University Press book on overlapping rights

Essay on “A Shifting Paradigm: Intellectual Property Issues for Oral History in the Digital Age” in conjunction with his role as working group leader for the “Oral History in the Digital Age” project based at Michigan State University

In 2005, Professor Halpern joined Albany Law School as the Hon. Harold R. Tyler Jr. Chair in Law & Technology. Previously, he was a professor at The Ohio State University since 1984 and the C. William O'Neill Professor of Law and Judicial Administration since 2001.

Professor Halpern has authored several books and publications and directed a series of interdisciplinary conferences exploring the impact of technology on law. Before joining academia, he practiced law in New York and Minnesota.

He earned his undergraduate degree at Cornell University and graduated first in his class at Cornell Law School.
