Serena Joyce White-Lake joined Albany Law School in January 2020.

Serena teaches Real Estate Transactions. Her course covers how to perform real estate closings, the law involved in real estate transactions, and the racially discriminatory housing policies which continue to segregate America and increase the massive racial wealth gap.

Serena is an attorney, professor, writer, real estate broker and closing attorney. Serena began her career by clerking for the New York State Court of Appeals, the State’s highest court. She now works as counsel at the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, where she specializes in employment law. Serena also leads community book discussions funded by the Humanities New York Foundation and organized by the Albany Public Library and League of Women Voters of New York State.

Serena also serves on the City of Albany Board of Zoning Appeals, and gives Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging trainings for Harkness Consulting Solutions. She has also volunteered for the Center for Law and Justice and local legal clinics.  Serena is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Albany County Bar Association, the Capital District Women's Bar Association, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
