Biography
Andrea Shaw has almost 20 years’ experience as a senior regulatory compliance attorney with demonstrated success in developing and implementing enterprise risk management and compliance frameworks in a variety of financial sectors such as payments, virtual asset service, international remittance, and U.S. and foreign banking and investment institutions. Ms. Shaw’s areas of expertise include enterprise and operational risk management, financial crime, consumer, data privacy, information security, and regulatory compliance. Ms. Shaw has direct experience obtaining and maintaining regulatory licenses with regulatory bodies in US, Canada, EU, and UK. Throughout her career, Ms. Shaw has held key legal and compliance positions at Morgan Stanley, UBS Wealth Management, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), CLS Group, American Express, and Deutsche Bank. Since 2018, Ms. Shaw has served in executive roles at various FinTech (including Digital Assets) companies developing and implementing robust Risk, Compliance and AML frameworks and solutions including automating GRC, KYC and KYB processes. Currently, Ms. Shaw is Chief Risk & Compliance Officer at GenuBank, ensuring the Bank is achieving its strategic goals in a safe and sound manner by providing enterprise risk, compliance and AML oversight to the Bank and partnering with its affiliate, Blockchains Inc., on self-sovereign identity strategic deliverables. Ms. Shaw earned her Juris Doctor specializing in International Law and Practice from Albany Law School and her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Hofstra University. Ms. Shaw is currently licensed to practice law in NY and is an adjunct professor of law at Albany Law School in their Online LLM/Master Financial Risk Management Program.
