Celebrate the 40th anniversary of Prisoners' Legal Services with a reception, program and dinner at Albany Law School on Oct. 24, 2014, from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Awards will be presented to:
Professor Emeritus Dan Moriarty, the first director of the Prisoners' Legal Services Clinc, which became Prisoners' Legal Services.
John Dunne, of Whiteman Osterman & Hanna and one of the lead negotiators at the 1971 Attica Prison uprising.
Jeffrion Aubry, Speaker Pro Tempore, N.Y. State Assembly.
New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Department, in posthumous honor of J. Clarence Herlihy.
The program will also include a short video.
The event will be catered by Mallozzi's. Chef Ryan Hunteau runs a program for released inmates.
The 40th anniversary celebration will follow a day-long conference, also at Albany Law School, on international law and human rights. The conference will feature a keynote by the former U.N. Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem (Navi) Pillay.
