Update from the Dean Regarding COVID-19 Testing

Dear Albany Law School Community:

Now that we have completed our first two weeks of classes, I wanted to share a brief update on our testing protocols and results. Last week, we conducted our first round of random surveillance testing. All the tests were negative, as were all tests of individuals who sought tests because of possible symptoms, exposure, or travel. This is good news.

Of course, we can’t let our guard down or become complacent. We plan to continue weekly rounds of random testing for the rest of the semester. If you get a notice that your have been selected for random testing, please set up a time at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) testing site as soon as possible. The procedures used at ACPHS are relatively comfortable and the results are quick.

Also, I want to urge anyone who is symptomatic or is otherwise concerned about possible exposure to take precautions: please get tested before returning to campus. Arrange a test by emailing COVIDtesting@acphs.edu. You should attend classes or work remotely while awaiting your appointment, and can expect results within 30 minutes to an hour.

I’m grateful to all of you for your continued vigilance as we use masks, physical distancing, good hygiene practices, and testing to keep each other safe.
