Due to the recent executive order
Nos. 202-202.14 Declaring a Disaster Emergency in the State of New York, and the
declaration of a national emergency, many of the small business and not-for-profit clients of the
Community Economic Development Clinic with commercial leases were forced to close their doors. Some have started requesting consultations about their leases, wondering if they have grounds to negotiate rent abatements for March or April. To be able to address these lease-related questions, our Clinic, which is operating remotely, would like to offer resources and information.
We are providing a series of presentations and an information guide for small businesses and not-for-profits with questions about how to get through these challenging times.
In addition, we are offering a remote brief advice clinic, where clients can
meet over video conference for free with a pro bono attorney and law students.
