Albany Law School is excited that President and Dean Alicia Ouellette ’94 has been nominated for the position of Chief Judge of the New York Court of Appeals on November, 23 2022. The New York Court of Appeals is the highest court in the Unified Court System of the State of New York.
Dean Ouellette announced last year that she would be stepping down from her position as President and Dean of Albany Law School as of June 30, 2023 after almost nine years leading the institution. Albany Law has been conducting a national search for the next President and Dean.
The Commission on Judicial Nomination put forth seven names for consideration by Governor Kathy Hochul, who will announce her decision in January. The chosen nominee will need to be confirmed by the Senate. The list of other nominees and more details about the process can be found here.
