Women's Leadership Initiative: 2020 Summer Series - Financial Statements 101: Representing Business Clients

Every lawyer who represents business clients must understand how to read financial statements in order to advise clients on business decisions and compliance matters. A great business lawyer will understand how to read, analyze, and create financial statements to ensure she has a full and accurate understanding of her client's finances. At the most basic level, financial statements will provide information on how much money the client's business has saved, how much debt is owed, the income coming in each month, and the expenses going out the door. More complex financial statements are required to be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission by publicly traded companies. This program will provide students with a strong understanding of key items on financial statements.
