James Benedict '74 was recognized as a top securities litigator on the national level by Benchmark Litigation, which identifies the nation's leading litigation firms and attorneys through a rigorous research and interview process.
An Albany Law School trustee and a partner in the New York City office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP, Benedict was also recognized for his litigation in the fields of antitrust, appellate, and securities law in New York state.
Of the 11 Milbank attorneys recognized by Benchmark Litigation, two are Albany Law graduates. Benedict was joined by fellow partner Sean Murphy '94, who was recognized in the fields of securities and antitrust litigation.
As chairman of the firm’s Litigation & Arbitration Group and head of its Securities Litigation Practice Group, Benedict has handled hundreds of major class and shareholder derivative actions alleging violations of state and federal antitrust and securities laws, including some of the largest class actions in the nation.
