FOR AN ALBANY COUPLE WHO PLAN TO OPEN A RESTAURANT, The Justice Center’s Community Development Clinic has been the difference between operating a mom-and-pop and a professional operation.
Law students helped Kelechi Nwagboso and her husband, Obinna, form an LLC for their business: Keobi, an African cuisine restaurant. The students are now helping them navigate the requirements for obtaining food and liquor licenses, and are assisting in their efforts to obtain a retail space.
“It’s been an amazing experience,” Obinna said. “They helped us with our business structure, the entity formation, and the operating agreement. We would never have known how to do it ourselves.” The Nwagbosos plan to open Keobi by spring 2020.
