Student Critique on Bridal Gown Copyright Issues Wins Top State Prize

Jayme Majek Torelli '07 won first place in the New York Intellectual Property Law Association's (NYIPLA) Honorable William C. Conner Intellectual Property Law Writing Competition. Her paper, entitled "Here Comes the Bride... And There Goes the Copyright," discusses the pros and cons of intellectual property protection, particularly copyright protection for original bridal gown designs.

Torelli will be honored at NYIPLA's annual dinner this month in New York City.

In addition to finishing her final year at Albany Law, Torelli is a law clerk at Hoffman, Warnick & D'Alessandro LCC, an intellectual property law firm based in Albany, NY. She is also the managing editor for lead articles at the Albany Law Journal of Science & Technology and a member of Albany Law's Intellectual Property Society.
