Dean Penelope (Penny) Andrews will deliver the keynote address "Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela: The Long Arc of Justice" at the Troy, N.Y., campus of The Sage Colleges on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.

Now in her second academic year at Albany Law School, Dean Andrews has recently given several lectures and media interviews on both Martin Luther King, Jr., and Nelson Mandela.

Dean Andrews grew up in apartheid South Africa, fighting for equal rights. Her teaching and advocacy for the indigenous populations, with a focus on women’s rights, have spanned numerous countries. Her most recent book is From Cape Town to Kabul: Rethinking Strategies for Pursuing Women’s Human Rights.

An annual award in her name—The Penelope E. Andrews Human Rights Award—is given by the South African law school at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

The Sage Colleges is hosting a series of programs and educational events commemorating Black History Month throughout the month of February 2014.
