Albany Law Welcomes New Assistant Dean to Expand Online Master’s Programs
Albany Law School welcomes Jason Fiske as the school’s Assistant Dean for Program Development and Distance Education, a new position where he will continue to grow the school’s online graduate program and expand the school’s offerings beyond the traditional law school J.D. degree.
“Albany Law School currently offers several Master of Science degrees,” said Alicia Ouellette, President & Dean. “We plan to add several more degrees over the next few years. Given Jason’s successful track record, we are confident he is the right person to lead our online graduate school of law into the future. We are thrilled to have him join the Albany Law community.”
Currently Albany Law School offers an M.S. in Legal Studies with concentrations in health law and healthcare compliance, government affairs, social entrepreneurship, and the all-online cyber security and data privacy program. The school plans to launch in 2019 a degree in financial compliance and risk management. Along with the M.S. degrees, the school also offers the Master of Laws (LL.M.) only for attorneys.
Fiske has led online programs since 2009, most recently at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, San Diego, Calif., where he doubled the size of their online programs in two years as assistant dean for program development and distance education. He has taught more than 150 law classes online, and helped in the development of some 500. He currently teaches Introduction to Law and Legal Methods for non-attorneys, and also tax classes ranging from Basic Income Taxation to Business Taxation.
He holds a J.D., and an LL.M. in taxation, and a M.Ed. in Instructional Design. Before entering law school administration, he practiced law in California in taxation and estate planning.
