Albany Law School Reports Strongest Fundraising Results in a Decade – More than Doubles Previous Year
Albany Law School announced today that it has recorded more than $5.5 million in gifts this year, marking the highest yearly total in more than a decade, a significant increase from the previous year’s total of $2.1 million. The year’s fundraising total—July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2018— includes more than $1.2 million to the Law School’s annual fund.
Albany Law School Trustees account for nearly $3.9 million of the gifts this year. These gifts will go toward enhancing the student experience, scholarships for students in need, and growing programs to support innovation and entrepreneurship. Significant gifts were given to support the Law School’s endowment, in particular, funds for student scholarships.
All members of the Board of Trustees and the National Alumni Association Board once again gave to the Law School.
“This significant increase in giving from our alumni and the community is a clear vote of confidence that they support the direction of the school,” said James E. Hacker, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “The Trustees are proud to stand by our president and dean, our faculty, staff, and students to continue building a stronger Albany Law School.”
“Albany Law School has seen growth in enrollment, in our overall national ranking, and in the quality of students who are applying. We continue to grow our resources to pursue the goals of our strategic plan,” said President and Dean Alicia Ouellette. “We are very encouraged by the pledge of support by our most loyal alumni supporters and trustees. A significant number of our students receive some form of financial aid. Law school is expensive and gifts like these often make law school possible for students who otherwise could not afford it.”
Albany Law School has an endowment of approximately $65 million and is in the planning stages of a comprehensive capital campaign.
The Law School offers the J.D. degree—the traditional law degree—as well as master’s degrees, including a fully online master's, and LL.M. degrees.
