Albany Law School announced today that it has received a gift of $125,000 from trustee Timothy O'Hara ’96 and his wife, Colleen, to support the Women's Leadership Initiative (WLI).

First announced in May, the Women's Leadership Initiative is an innovative effort by Albany Law School's Career and Professional Development Center and Office of Alumni Engagement. Trustee Kimberly C. (K.C.) Petillo-Décossard ’05 and her husband, Sakis Décossard, established the initiative through a leadership gift of $175,000.

The Women's Leadership Initiative involves:

  • leadership training opportunities for students and alumnae;
  • networking events and integration with the law school's Alumni Initiative in Mentoring program; and
  • a fellowship program.

Albany Law School officially launched the Women's Leadership Initiative earlier this month, holding its first two events. The WLI draws on the partnership and counsel of senior partners and alumni leaders throughout the country, particularly in the Capital Region and New York City.

"We are deeply grateful to Tim and Colleen for adding to the endowment for the Women's Leadership Initiative," said President and Dean Alicia Ouellette. "The interest in this initiative has been overwhelming—there's no doubt that it will have an impact on many careers in the years to come."

"The launch of the Women's Leadership Initiative is an exciting step for Albany Law School. I am grateful to K.C. and Sakis for their leadership gift," said Timothy O'Hara. "By coordinating leadership training, networking events, career placement services, and alumni engagement, this initiative will create vast opportunities for current students and graduates."

The Women's Leadership Initiative is the ninth new endowed fund established during We Rise Together: The Campaign for Albany Law School.  Innovation is a key pillar of the campaign; gifts that are geared toward inventive programming make the legal education—and the student experience—at Albany Law School even stronger.

The law school has secured nearly $28 million in gifts and commitments toward We Rise Together: The Campaign for Albany Law School. The historic campaign, announced in 2019, is an ambitious fundraising effort to support student scholarships, innovation, and programs that make an impact on the community.
