Approximately 170 students crossed the Saratoga Performing Arts Center’s stage during the law school’s 164th Commencement, held May 15, 2015, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

The ceremony began with a welcome from Board Chair Dan Nolan ’78 and a stirring rendition of “America the Beautiful” by Barbara Chandler, a paralegal in the Law Clinic & Justice Center who is retiring this summer after 28 years at the law school.

Dean Alicia Ouellette ’94 then took the stage to address the class.

“The average age of your class when you started was 23,” she joked. “I bet you feel a bit older today.”

Dean Ouellette continued, “Today you celebrate. You earned it.”

President Penelope (Penny) Andrews introduced the Commencement speaker, The Honorable Leslie Stein ’81, a member of the law school’s Board of Trustees who was recently confirmed as an associate judge of the New York Court of Appeals.

“One of the strengths of Albany Law School is its active alumni network, many of whom are sitting here today” said President Andrews before detailing Judge Stein’s many accomplishments. “I encourage you all to stay connected.”
