COVID-19: Community Updates and Resources
Albany Law School has surpassed its $30 million We Rise Together campaign goal, four months early. Total giving to the campaign has reached nearly $32 million.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, our campaign chair and vice chairs, and the entire Albany Law School community, I thank the nearly 3,000 donors who have made this campaign such a success,” President and Dean Alicia Ouellette said. “The campaign has strengthened our law school, and we have done this together during a challenging year.”
We Rise Together: The Campaign for Albany Law School was publicly launched on January 17, 2019 in New York City. At that time, President and Dean Ouellette announced a transformational gift of $15 million, by an anonymous donor, to endow The Justice Center at Albany Law School. The gift symbolized a dramatic boost of confidence in what the law school could accomplish during the campaign.
“This is a significant milestone for the campaign,” said Jeffrey Schanz, vice president for institutional advancement and chief of staff. “We will continue to count gifts to the law school through June 30, 2021 when the campaign is scheduled to officially close. I would like thank our campaign chairs Dan Nolan ’78, Dan Grossman ’78, Jack Withiam ’74, as well as our former board chair James Hacker ’84 and Deb Treyz ’77, chair of the board of trustees.”
Since the successful public launch, nearly $17 million has been raised to support students and faculty under the campaign pillars of independence, innovation, and impact. This includes over $7.6 million which has been directly added to the Law School endowment which now stands at $81 million.
The campaign has already had a positive impact on the law school community, as contributions have included:
“The Law School looks forward to celebrating this success with the entire community in the near future,” said Ouellette. “In the meantime, we want to thank all our donors who have helped us reach this important milestone along with the faculty, staff, and students who work every day to make Albany Law School worthy of their philanthropy.”
