COVID-19: Community Updates and Resources
Albany Law School announced today that it has hired Will Trevor—a veteran in online education and marketing—to lead its Office of Online Graduate Programs.
As the new Assistant Dean and Director of Online Programs, Trevor heads the development and expansion of online master's, LL.M., and certificate programs that align with the strategic plans and goals of Albany Law School. Collaborating with departments across the law school, Trevor will oversee online student services, instructional design, technology support, the curriculum development process, marketing plans and strategies, faculty recruitment, program assessment, and more.
He joined the law school on May 4.
"We are thrilled to welcome Will Trevor to Albany Law School and fortunate, after an extensive search, to have found him in our own backyard," said President and Dean Alicia Ouellette. "Will's breadth of knowledge and depth of skills are unique, impressive, and highly sought after. I am looking forward to working with him as we continue elevating our online graduate programs."
Trevor brings to the law school more than 10 years of experience in online education. Prior to joining Albany Law, he served as Faculty Program Director of Undergraduate Business Programs at Excelsior College, where he oversaw the management and development of the institution's business-related associate's and bachelor's programs.
Trevor's extensive background in marketing encompasses consumer-to-consumer and business-to-business markets across a range of industries. His experience spans both agency-side and marketing management roles, which have helped to inform his perspective from both a practitioner and an academic angle.
"I am excited to be working with such a talented group of people at Albany Law School. The passion that they have for creating outstanding learning experiences was one of the things that really attracted me to this role," Trevor said. "I was also impressed by the pioneering work that they have done in creating impressive and cutting-edge online programs. I am delighted to bring my knowledge and experience to help Albany Law School continue to give our students an awesome experience—one that equips them with the skills and competencies needed to thrive and progress in this rapidly changing world."
Trevor has taught in higher education on both sides of the Atlantic: in the U.K., as a faculty member with the University of Essex Online, Leeds Beckett University, Leeds City College, and Askham Bryan College; and in the U.S., with Excelsior College, Sage College of Albany, Maria College, University of the People, and Ashford University.
In 2013, Trevor became a Fellow of the U.K.'s prestigious Higher Education Academy in recognition of his contributions to higher education. In 2017, he became only the sixth person in the United States to attain the rank of Professional Certified Marketer (PCM) in Digital Marketing from the American Marketing Association. More recently, he became the President of the New York Capital Region Chapter of the American Marketing Association and delivered a TEDx talk on the state of online arguments.
Albany Law School launched its first fully online graduate program in 2016. The law school now offers online master's and LL.M. degree programs, as well as certificate programs, in Cybersecurity and Data Privacy, Financial Compliance and Risk Management, and Health Law and Compliance, with more offerings to be announced. All of the programs are designed to give working professionals the law and policy knowledge to advance their careers in these high-growth fields; the master's programs are specifically for non-lawyers.
In March 2020, Albany Law School earned full accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
