Albany Law School recently kicked off a comprehensive fundraising program to raise money to support its students who are affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

On Wednesday, March 25, 2020, the 7th Annual Give Day program started the effort by raising more than $21,000 to support the Helen Wilkinson Memorial Student Assistance Fund for student emergencies. In addition, $54,000 was raised for the annual fund.

More than 225 donors sent their support to the law school in an unbelievable sign of kindness and generosity. Contributions to the Wilkinson fund will be used for immediate assistance to students who are facing unparalleled circumstances due to the developing and evolving pandemic.

"Our students are dealing with a great deal of uncertainty right now in their professional and academic lives. The Albany Law School community has always risen to the occasion. I know that our students are grateful for the support, which adds stability in a time of need," said Rosemary Queenan, Associate Dean for Student Affairs.

Many students have already reached out to Albany Law School's deans and faculty with real concerns about bar preparation, living expenses, sudden travel needs, and other emergency expenses. These needs are expected to grow as the COVID-19 crisis continues.

The Helen T. Wilkinson Memorial Fund exists to grant emergency funds to Albany Law School students who experience difficulties because of health concerns or family emergencies. Albany Law School will continue to accept contributions to this fund, and is asking that these specific gifts be made prior to June 30, 2020. You can give by visiting albanylaw.edu/give.

Gifts to this fund, and all other gifts, will count toward We Rise Together: The Campaign for Albany Law School, which has raised nearly $27 million in support of our students and the law school community.
