168th Commencement: Watch Live
Albany Law School announced today that it has secured $25 million in gifts and commitments toward
We Rise Together: The Campaign for Albany Law School, which launched publicly in January 2019 with the announcement of a
transformative $15 million gift to support The Justice Center at Albany Law School.
This total includes $1.8 million from more than 1,100 donors for annual expendable support in 2018-19, marking an all-time high.
"Albany Law School alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends have stepped up in a big way this year and we could not be more pleased with the early support for our campaign," said President and Dean Alicia Ouellette. "This is just the start of an historic undertaking. When this campaign concludes, Albany Law School will have raised more money than ever before, funding initiatives that are central to our pillars of independence, innovation, and impact."
Notably, donors have started six endowed scholarship funds, an innovation fund for legal education—seeded with a $1 million gift—and a wellness initiative to enhance the student experience.
"We are extremely grateful to all who have given this year, especially our trustees and leadership donors, for putting us on a positive path in this campaign," said
We Rise Together campaign chair Dan Nolan ’78. "I am proud to count myself among them. Our community has rallied to the cause—investing in a bold vision for Albany Law School—giving us tremendous momentum heading into year two."
"This campaign is designed to strengthen the law school's endowment and add much-needed resources to support the priorities of the campaign: reducing student debt and attracting highly skilled students by building endowed scholarships; growing innovative educational programs; and increasing our impact on the Capital Region and beyond," said Jeffrey Schanz, Vice President for Institutional Advancement.
The law school has been rolling out the campaign to audiences across the state and country with programs stretching from New York City to San Francisco.
